Terrorist orchestrated attack on USS Cole in 2000 On 1 January 2019, a U.S. drone strike in Marib, Yemen killed Jamel Al-Badawi. Up until his death, Al-Badawi spent years on the United States’ Most Wanted Terrorist list for orchestrating the attack on the USS Cole in 2000, which killed 17 sailors and injured 39 others.   

USCENTCOM’s Department of Defense Rewards Program provided large monetary reward payments for the information provided that assisted U.S. forces in combating terrorism. 

These reward payments incentivize further cooperation with the United States Government.
