The USCENTCOM DoDRP was established to reward eligible persons who provide information or 'non-lethal' assistance that enables U.S. and allied forces to combat terrorism and protect U.S. and allied forces.

The USCENTCOM DoDRP pays monetary rewards, or rewards in kind, of up to $5,000,000, but amounts vary depending on the quality of the information, its value to U.S. and allied operations, and the level of threat prevented or eliminated. The more unique and important the information, the higher the value of the reward.

Once a tip has been investigated and proven to be useful and verifiably true, a USCENTCOM DoDRP official will contact the individual discreetly and reward them accordingly with a monetary reward or reward in kind. Most rewards are paid in cash. Read more about the reward process here.

The USCENTCOM DoDRP offers rewards for information and 'non-lethal' assistance that enables U.S. and allied forces to combat terrorism as well as protect U.S. and allied forces from planned attacks. An example would be warning the U.S. government of an imminent threat to U.S. or allied forces or reporting on individuals responsible for past or planned attacks on U.S. and allied forces.

The authority to conduct the DoDRP is the United States Code, 2012 Edition, Supplement 4, Title 10 – ARMED FORCES, Subtitle A – General Military Law, PART 1 – ORGANIZATION AND GENERAL MILITARY POWERS, CHAPTER 3 – GENERAL POWERS AND FUNCTIONS, Sec. 127b – Department of Defense Rewards Program.

The Secretary of Defense may pay a monetary amount, or provide a payment in-kind, to a person as a reward for providing U.S. Government personnel with information or nonlethal assistance that supports:

• An operation or activity conducted by U.S. forces, or of allied forces participating in a combined operation with U.S. forces, outside the U.S. against international terrorism.
• The protection of U.S. forces, or of allied forces participating in a combined operation with U.S. forces.

The amount or value of a reward under this section may not exceed $5,000,000.
